Wallace James Butler

–

Vienna, Maryland

God, in His infinite wisdom, blessed His son, Wallace James "Tuggy Fresh" Butler, with his heavenly wheels on September 23rd, 2024 and quietly whispered "Put her in drive and come to Me."

Wallace began his life’s journey on October 16th, 1969 at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, Maryland as the son of Fred Mouring and Romania Butler. For 54 years, he graced this earth living an incredibly impactful life until he peacefully transitioned into the presence of his Lord and Savior while surrounded by loved ones.

Wallce was in North Dorchester High School’s graduating Class of 1987. He spent his entire 32-year career as the Shipping Department Manager at Amick Farms (formerly Allen Family Foods), Perdue Farms, and Mountaire Farms and retired in 2019 to focus on restoring his health and his family.

For as long as anyone can remember, Wallace has always had a special interest in cars and trucks – or anything with a motor and wheels. Repairing, cleaning, maintaining, and “pimping out” a vehicle wasn't only his passion but an expectation. “Tuggy Fresh” guaranteed his vehicles were equally fresh. He was known for his 1988 Nissan Hardbody pickup truck that was red then painted gold and inscribed with “Caught Ya Lookin’” on both doors. His 1993 Toyota Camry had rims and was one of the first to have an automatic start. Wallace decided to elevate to an antique-bronze 1998 Lexus GS-300 which was likewise adorned with rims. His “Butler Car” was a burgundy 1995 Chevrolet Caprice with “Butler” written inside of the 26-inch rims and a booming sound-system. He was happy to own a 2006 Pontiac GTO V8 also adorned with custom-colored rims. He briefly drove a 2013 Infiniti M35H with – you guessed it – 24-inch rims. His last vehicle with a custom-built engine, rims, and custom paint job was a 2008 Pontiac G8. Wallace wanted to be heard before he was seen whether by cam, boom, or tuned.

Although Wallace was a man of few words, he loved to encourage others about their circumstances despite his own, and ensured he relayed God's Word while doing so. Countless people have revealed how his messages have been so inspirational, often coming at the time when they were most needed. He spent an incredible amount of time sitting outside in his favorite chair or even in his car. If you rode by his home, you may have caught him snoring after he dozed off despite claiming he “wasn’t sleepy.” Wallace truly enjoyed relaxing outdoors and pondering life while appreciating the existence of God's creations. Though rather reserved in speech, Wallace will always be treasured for his calmness, comfort, consistency, endurance, guidance, tenacity, temperament, and wisdom. When he did speak, he would often remind you that he was the best driver, cook, or best anything for that matter. Wallace was always solution-oriented and would quickly come up with the best course of action for any issue. In other words, he believed he always had an answer for everything.

He faced challenges with his health but remained thoroughly informed about his ailments, medications, and appointments. So informed that he would instruct his care team about how his treatment should be conducted. As he continued to age, several ailments began to riddle his body, and he fought them with all his might. Very rarely would he complain about his conditions and still remained thankful for his life. Wallace was a one-of-a-kind man who will be greatly missed. He no longer has to suffer pain, but will live on in our memories where there’s an abundance of love, compassion, respect, and adoration.

He was a devout lover of Christ and firmly upheld his connection to God and his family. He was an esteemed husband, father, grandfather, godfather, spiritual father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. Loved ones to uphold and cherish his memory are: his wife of 31-years, Kim Tillery Butler of Vienna, Maryland; three daughters, Michon Lanese Tillery of Vienna, Maryland; Ty’Keta Anese Butler of Federalsburg, Maryland; and Monae Janese Butler of Vienna, Maryland; a granddaughter, Kinsley “Kinney Bean” Beasley of Vienna, Maryland; a brother, Fred Cephas of Hurlock, Maryland; a cousin more like a brother, Darryl Butler of Cambridge, Maryland; a mother-in-law Gladys Blake of Cambridge, Maryland; brothers-in-law, Dock (Tenishia) Tillery of Cambridge, Maryland; Kevin Tillery of Cambridge, Maryland; Robert (Kathy) King of Cambridge, Maryland; Keith (Nona) Tillery of Rhodesdale, Maryland; sisters-in-law Mary Wright of Windsor Mill, Maryland and Virginia Pollard of Kennet Square, Pennsylvania.

His chosen family includes: a godson, Jeremiah Abbott of Salisbury, Maryland; a son-in-love Joseph Stanley, Jr. of Cumberland, Maryland; a granddaughter-in-love Ja’Niyah Stanley of Cambridge, Maryland; a sister-in-love Bevelyn (Michael) Cephas-Quidas of Cambridge, Maryland; and an integral part of his care team and friend, Dr. Anish Hinduja of Easton, Maryland. He likewise had a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Addie Jane Mouring and James Roosevelt, and maternal grandparents, Roscoe Pinder and Aljanette Butler-Perry.

Though no longer present in body, rest assured, Wallace is pleased to be in the presence of The Lord.
