Vennett Edwards Phelps, 74 of Cambridge, departed this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at her home.\n \n She was born June 14, 1933, daughter of the late James Edwards and Julia Stewart Edwards and was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County.\n \n Mrs. Phelps was known for her sense of humor and her desire to engage in social activities. One of her strongest passions was card playing, especially the games of bid whist and pinochle.\n \n She was married to her to her soul mate, her beloved husband, Joe Cephas Phelps who preceded her in death.\n \n Her memories will be cherished forever by two sons, Wardell Lamberson (Connie), Landover, MD and Eugene Spicer (Cambridge, MD); a brother, Wallace Edwards (Lottie), Woodbine, New Jersey; two brothers in-law, William Phelps (Jerolyn), Washington, DC and James Phelps (Creswell, North Carolina); a sister in-law, Daisy Adams (Cambridge, MD) and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.\n \n In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings John Adams, William "Boobie" Edwards and Mabel Edwards Pinder.\n \n Services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, 11am at Henry Funeral Home, PA 510 Washington St Cambridge, Md. The Revs Lemuel and Lavon Chester will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
