Vanessa V. Banks Warner was born on July 21, 1956 in Cambridge, Dorchester County Maryland to Leroy Banks and the late Madaline Smith Banks. Vanessa was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 20, 2014, at the age of 57.\n \n She received her education in the Dorchester County Public schools and graduated from Cambridge High School in the class of 1975.\n \n Vanessa married the late Mark A. Warner on May 8, 1984. On July 30, 1994 they received the joy of her life, Shawn Warner. Vanessa was what you would call a "people person," and spending time with family, friends and shopping were some of her greatest joys.\n \n At an early age, Vanessa accepted Christ. She joined Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Usher's Board, the Young People's Division, the Inspirational Voices of Praise, Lillian Hollis Singers and served as a Stewardesses. Through it all, she never lost her faith in God and she tried to attend church whenever she could. She spent her life trying to help somebody as she traveled along life's journey.\n \n Vanessa was employed by Airpax Corporation until it closed. Being a loving and caring person, she then sought employment at Dorchester County Social Services in Adult Services where she worked until her health began to fail.\n \n She leaves to cherish fond memories, one son, Shawn Warner; her father, Leroy Banks; two brothers: Hilton Banks and Rev. Randall (Joyce) Banks; two sisters Karen Mathis and Sharon Banks, all of Cambridge, MD; a special nephew: Leroy (Kesha) Woolford (Baltimore, MD); nine aunts: Lucile White (Pittsburgh, PA), Brenda Hayward (Cambridge, MD), Thelma Wilson and Cassandra (Charles) Payne (Glen Burnie, MD), Virginia Finney (Willingboro, NJ), Hilda White (Baltimore, MD), Rachel (Greason) Jackson, (Rhodesdale, MD), Guinervere Banks, and Lorraine Thompson (Cambridge, MD); four uncles: Leroy (Joyce) Jackson (Cambridge, MD), Vernon Jackson (Lithonia, GA),Thomas (Donna) Thompson (Glen Burnie, MD), and Hilton (Peggy) Hayward (Baltimore, MD); In-laws: Rose Banks, David (Betty) Warner, Norman Jr. (Sharon) Warner. Glenn Warner, Daniel Warner, Dorothy (Melvin) Slaughter, Laura Mitchell, Shirley Warner, and Mable (Kevin) Johnson; special friends: Candy Gibbs, Patricia Johnson, and Larry Roberts all of Cambridge, MD; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Vanessa was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Mark Warner; her mother, Madaline Smith Banks; two brothers, Leroy Darnell Banks and Alton Anthony Banks.\n \n Services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014, 1 pm, at Bethel A.M.E. Church 623 Pine St., Cambridge, MD with a viewing one hour prior to service.
