Valerie Faith Jones Chase was born in Jonestown, MD on June 10, 1948 to the late Ralph Jenkins Jones and Catherine Marie Jones. Valerie was admitted to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Val fought a brave battle until God called her home for her Heavenly rest on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. She was 70 years old.\n \n\n Valerie attended schools at Jonestown Elementary and Lockerman in Denton, MD. She graduated with her class in 1966 in spite of many set backs in her life. Val may regroup for a time, but she came back with a plan to overcome her obstacles.\n \n\n In October 1994, Val married the love of her life Maurice Chase, “Reesee”. They understood each other and it was a true expression of their mutual love for each other. Maurice departed this life on Monday, December 10, 2012. Valerie lost some purpose of her everyday life with Maurice’s passing.\n \n\n Valerie was employed by the Tidewater Inn as a server and later as a cashier. She also worked for Cadamus and the Star Democrat.\n \n\n Valerie attended Coppins AME Church in Preston as a young child. Then later in her teenage years she attended T.M. Farmer Memorial Church of God in Christ. Valerie moved to Easton in her twenties, but she continued her strive to seek God.\n \n\n To truly know Val you just had to love her.\n \n\n In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Washington; aunts: Sarah Collins, Bertha Kinder, Rosetta Johns, Elsie Frazier, Ernestine Palmer, America Gibson and Anna Mae Gibson; uncles: Elbert Gibson, Carroll Gibson, Ray Johns, James Frazier, Boyce Burns and Booker T. Kinder; and a special cousin, Patricia King.\n \n\n Valerie is survived by her mother, Catherine Marie Jones; two step children: Maurice Hutchins “Birdie” and Kimberly Hutchins; four step grandchildren; two brothers: Ralph Jones (Tracy, CA) and Rodney Jones of Hurlock, MD; four sisters: Diane Nichols of Cambridge, Joanne Preston of Fairfax, VA, Barbara Pinder of Hurlock and Beverly Webster of Hurlock; one aunt, Dorothy Burns of Easton; a special niece, Annette Brooks and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
