Valarie Aurelia Dean was born in Cambridge, Maryland on March 17, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Lula Gamby. On November 29, 2012, after several months of illness, Valarie quietly entered eternal rest. Valarie was educated in the public school system of Dorchester County Maryland. She attended Frederick Douglas Sinclair High School, and was a member of the Class of 1940. At an early age Valarie joined St. Luke United Methodist Church, where she was a devoted member for most of her life. She served as a member of the Senior and New Covenant Choirs. In 1953, Valarie left Cambridge to seek employment in Baltimore, Maryland. While in Baltimore, she worked for Parks Sausage and remained there until retirement in 1985. In 1955, she united in holy matrimony to the late Rufus R. Dean. After retirement, she returned to Cambridge and lived in the family home until her passing. Lovingly called "Aunt Val" by family and friends, she possessed the highest quality of style and the character of true lady. She enjoyed traveling along the East Coast. The epitome of style, she was always ready for a shopping trip to purchase the latest fashion and accessories. This style defined her personality, of which she was well known and will always be remembered. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted son David "Nicky" Henry (Dot); four grandchildren: Marc B. Henry (Heather), Nicole M. Henry, Darius L. Henry, and Kevin Pinder; five great-grandchildren: Jeanine, Jamal, Javon, Davon, and Sydney; a devoted niece, Ava V. Henry; one sister, Maelo Wilson; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
