Thomas Harvey Johnson, Jr., 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 30th at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n Born on May 18, 1947 in Bellevue, MD, Tommy was the son of the late Thomas Harvey Johnson, Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. Tommy attended Moton High School and although he quit before graduating, he later was able to receive his GED. He entered the United States Army and completed two tours in Vietnam between 1967 and 1974 where he specialized in communications. Upon returning for the war, Tommy held various jobs. His most notable jobs were as a volunteer firefighter in St. Michaels, Rescue Scuba Diver, and a police officer in St. Michaels Police where he eventually retired after 10 years of service.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n Those left to cherish his fond memories are two sons Julian Blake of Hagerstown, and Vernis Johnson of Tacoma, Washington; 2 daughters: Rosenia Blake of Chestertown, and Tameka Johnson of St. Michaels; 4 brothers: Rawland Johnson of Cambridge, William Johnson of Cambridge, and Andrew Johnson, and Keith Batson both of St. Michaels; 2 sisters: Barbara Murray and Joyce Fountain both of St. Michaels; and 14 grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory his best friend, Timmy Tilghman along with a host of other family members and friends.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernis Johnson and his twin sister Veronica Johnson.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n He will be deeply missed and always remembered by all who knew him.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n Interment will take place 10 am, Thursday August13, 2015 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery.
