Thomas Daniel Chase, Sr., 78 of Cambridge, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born on January 14, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest son of the late Thomas Warfield Chase and Ethel Rocker Chase. He was educated in both Cambridge, MD and Philadelphia, PA.\n \n While in Philadelphia, he met and married the love of his life for 55 years, the late Betty Guider Chase.\n \n He retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. He returned to Philadelphia and spent the next 20 years as a DoD Police Officer at the Philadelphia Naval Base where he retired in the late 90s.\n \n He returned to Cambridge, MD. in 2006 and found a church home at Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church.\n \n Anyone who knew him, knew he loved his family, had a special bond with his dogs, loved to travel, had a big heart and a strong opinion.\n \n He leaves to honor and cherish his memory: two devoted children, Thomas D. (Michelle) Chase, Jr. (Silver Spring, MD), Debora (Steve) Chase-Hicks (Philadelphia, PA), two loving sisters, Norma Gordon and Sarah Chester (Cambridge, MD), one brother, Edwin (Mildred) Chase, one sister-in-law, Essie Reese (Philadelphia, PA),three grandchildren, Krista Chase (Philadelphia, PA.), Demetrius and Tiffany Brown (Silver Spring, MD) along with a great host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, all feeling the bond and the loss.\n \n The family of Thomas D. Chase, Sr. wishes to thank all for their love, prayers and kind deeds and words of support during this time.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 12 noon at Waugh Chapel UM Church 425 High St Cambridge, Md with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
