Thomas Henry Burke, 75 of Easton, MD, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at Easton Memorial Hospital.\n \n He was born February 26, 1932, son of the late Jesse Burke and Blanche Anderson Burke James.\n \n Thomas attended the public schools in Queen Anne's County better known as Kennard. After his completion of school, he joined the United States Air Force from 1952 -1955. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and was employed with several restaurants. One of Thomas' employers was with the Starlight Bar and Grill, where he renewed his LOVE for cooking. This lead him into establishing his own business better know as the Little Hut. Thomas had a creative hand in cooking his famous fish, chicken, pork chops, chitterlings and fried cabbage dishes.\n \n During his life, Thomas and twenty-four friends formed the East End Club. The organization sponsored funds and activities for young children. He was also a member of the American Lodge Post #21 of Centreville, MD.\n \n Thomas was joined in holy matrimony with Christina Collins Burke on May 18, 1974. Their union was blessed with four children, William R. Collins, Sr. (Beatrice), Bartlett, TN, Lorraine D. Burke (Chester, MD), Thomas F. Burke (Maurni), Moreno Valley, CA and Jeston Burke (Easton, MD); his special sons, Raymond Anderson (Crisfield, MD) and Tyrone Bordley (Hagerstown, MD).\n \n Thomas' life was enriched by the friendship of Toussaint Harrison, Herbert DeShields, Michael Watkins and Arthur Young.\n \n Thomas attended John Wesley Church in Carmichael, MD at an early age. During his marriage he rededicated his life to Christ and joined Asbury United Methodist Church of Easton, MD.\n \n In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by five brothers, Lewis Burke (Dorothy), Unionville, MD, Raymond Burke (Florence), New Castle, DE, Robert Burke (Evalena), Barclay, MD, Roy Burke (Barbara), Stevensville, MD and Roger Burke (Doris), Los Angeles, CA; two brothers in-law, Bruce Collins (Easton, MD) and Terris King (Baltimore, MD); two sisters in-law, Clarice Harris (Cambridge, MD) and Catherine King (Baltimore, MD); twelve grandchildren, William Phillip, Sarah and Leah Collins (Bartlett, TN), Amiya, Xavier and Amari Burke (Moreno Valley, CA), Tyron Burke (Easton, MD), Bryan Green and Trevin Smith-Burke (Chester, MD), Javon Burke (Hurlock, MD) and Jabrya Burke (Ridgely, MD) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.\n \n He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marguerite Johnson and Isabel Harrison, seven brothers, James Griffin, John, Jesse, Alexander, Bradford, Lester and James Burke.\n \n Services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007 1pm at Asbury UM Church 18 S. Higgins Easton, MD with a viewing Friday evening 6-8 pm at the church. Interment will be Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 10am at Veterans Cemetery Hurlock, MD.
