Theresa Wynette Slacum, of Cambridge, Md, departed this life on Monday, November 26, 2007 at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD.\n \n She was born July 28, 1955 in Dorchester County, daughter of the Helen Slacum and the late Buster Powell. Theresa was a graduate of North Dorchester High School, Class of 1973 and was employed for 25 years with Icelandic USA (formerly Coldwater Seafood Corporation).\n \n Theresa accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She loved the Lord and was a member of New Life Christian Church and Ministries. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.\n \n She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Tereka Miller (Cambridge, MD); two grandchildren, Tebrea Miller and Zaquan Miller (both of Cambridge, MD); a brother, Milton Slacum (Hurlock, MD); three sisters, Carolyn Slacum-Hill (John), Hurlock, MD, Edytheia Slacum and Rogena Slacum (both of Cambridge, MD); two special nieces whom she loved dearly , La Tonya Kane (Eric) and RyKerea Slacum (all of Hurlock, MD); a god daughter, Shadanna Wilson; an uncle, John Slacum (Columbus, Ohio); three aunts, Mary Jenkins (Hurlock, MD), Frances Fisher (Cambridge, MD) and Lillian Slacum (East New Market, MD); a special cousin, Vivian Frock (East New Market, MD) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and many close friends.\n \n In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Powell.\n \n Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 11am at Refuge Temple Church of God 800 Robbins St Cambridge, Md. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery.\n \n There will be a viewing Friday evening 6-8 pm at Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market.
