Theodore “Ted’ Payton Perry, Sr., son of the late Raymond Nathan Perry and Olivia Payton Perry Cornish of Aireys, Maryland; departed this life peacefully on December 24, 2023, at his home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland after a brief illness.\n\nTed was a 1957 graduate of Mace’s Lane High School. He moved to Washington, D.C. shortly after graduating to pursue a career in construction. He loved his work and blessed many people with his impeccable talents,\n\nTed was a quiet, gentle and patient spirit. He could also be playful and mischievous growing up on the farm. There was one memory in particular of him picking up his sisters with the horse and buggy at the end of their lane as they returned home from school. After he picked them up he sped down the lane going zig-zag and made them fall into the mud. He loved spending time with his family. He would allow his nieces and nephews to visit for the summers. Another one of his favorite pass times was watching Westerns and Sports. His favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens and the Golden State Warriors.\n\nTed is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Nathan Perry and Olivia Payton Perry Cornish; son, Barry Perry; granddaughter, Tiera Shaundrell Perry; brothers, Emerson Perry, Thurman Perry, Sherwood Perry, Nathaniel Perry, James Perry, Sr., Joseph Perry and Rudolph Perry; sisters, Sophronia Wheatley, Selena Major, Lillie Augusta Molock, Dorine Johnson and Ruth Ann Cornish.\n\nTed leaves to cherish his memory, his significant other, Janice Wills; two daughters, Sherry Bailey and Angela Perry Beasley; one son, Theodore Perry, Jr. (Jacqueline); grandchildren, Shanice Perry, LaTaya Perry and Tyeisha Perry; three sisters, Janet Perry Henry, Katherine Perry Camper, Joan Olivia Roberts; two sister-in-law’s, Elorist Perry and Eleanor Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
