Thelma Louise Dobson, 82 of East New Market, departed this life on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Special Home Assisted Living in Cambridge, MD.\n \n Born August 2, 1927 in Dorchester County she was the daughter of the late Roland and Laura Demby.\n \n Thelma was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and was employed with several canning factories within Dorchester County.\n \n She was married December 30, 1947 to James Andrew Dobson who preceded her in death on November 14, 2003.\n \n Thelma began her Christian walk at Lighthouse Church of God in East New Market. Her later years she has attended Faith Community United Methodist Church. She enjoyed church, serving as a Class Leader and particularly singing. Thelma was an excellent alto when she was a member of the Brownettes.\n \n Her favorite sayings were "I know it's the Truth" and "Ain't that the Truth".\n \n In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and seven brothers.\n \n Survivors include a nephew, raised as a son, Shedric Cain, Sr. and his wife Rita (both of Cambridge, MD); a grandson, Shedric Cain Jr. (Laurel, DE) and granddaughter, Pamela Cain (Cambridge, MD); eight great grandchildren, D'Avonta, LaToya, DeWayne, Angel, Shanice and Carnesha Cain, Patrick Washington and TaV'rein Potter; sister, Pearl Boggs (East New Market, MD); two brothers, Frederick Demby (Terry) of Cambridge, MD and George Demby (Patricia) of Hurlock, MD; a sister in-law, Darlene Demby (Cambridge, Md); two brothers in-law, Wilbur Sampson and Nice Cornish of Hurlock, MD and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 12 noon at Faith Community United Methodist Church 509 Railroad Ave East New Market, MD with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment in the church cemetery.
