Susan Loretta Travers O'Brien also known as Bunky, 65, passed away at Dorchester General Hospital, Saturday, May 16, 2009 from a long and courageous battle with cancer.\n \n She was born January 25, 1944 on Hoopers Island to the late Oliver H. Travers, Sr. and the late Essie Bernice Ross Travers.\n \n Susan was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. She was a dedicated employee at Mallard Bay Care Center for numerous years as a Rehabilitation Aide and Nursing Assistant until her health declined.\n \n She was employed at Dorchester General Hospital as a Nursing Assistant.\n \n Susan was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand and give her last if she felt the need.\n \n She was a devoted servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. She enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, watching TV, shopping and spending time with family and friends.\n \n In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Oliver G. Travers, Jr. "Chubby", Alton Maurice Travers, nephews, Frederick Pinder, Jr. and Oliver G. Travers, III "Cadillac).\n \n Susan leaves to mourn a sister, Areatha (Frederick) Pinder (Salisbury, MD); daughters, Alicia Elaine Travers, Areatha (James) Woolford, Tiffany Gibbs and Suzanne Gibbs (all of Cambridge, MD), Tanisha Thompson (Cambridge), she called her own; one aunt, Jenny Travers (Cambridge, MD); the main purposes of her life, the grandchildren, James E. Woolford, Kavon Harris, Gavin Woolford, Kyjajuan Cephas, Kemion Whaley, Kezaverion Gibbs, Keleah Beasley, Kamron Gibbs, Kailee Gibbs, Kemarion Gibbs, Teara Thompson; great grandchild, Terrance Nichols; god daughter, Keyonda Cephas; godsons, Edward and Christopher Sampson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special friend, Mary Camper.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 11am at United Missionary Baptist Church Phillips St Cambridge, MD with a viewing Friday evening 6-8 pm at the church.
