Shirley McNamara

Shirley McNamara, aged 88, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Born October 13, 1936 in Linas Road, Maryland, Shirley was the beloved daughter of Preston Eugene McNamara and Mary Catherine Cornish McNamara.

Shirley was one of the nicest, most down to earth, welcoming people you will ever meet. Never hesitating to help anyone she could, and committed to the community she grew up in.

Shirley received her education in the Dorchester County Public School system receiving her GED in 1969. She loved to learn, and continued her education by taking classes with Sojourner Douglas College in Baltimore, MD.

Shirley was a hard worker who was loved by all. She worked for Chun King, Department of Social Services, and Delmarva Community Services Action Center.

Shirley dedicated her time to, and was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. She was a Missionary, served on the Trustee Board, worked with the church Hot Meals Ministry program, and was also an Usher.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Novella Young, Doris Molock, and Dorothy Beverly; brothers Clifton McNamara, Nathaniel Cornish, Donald McNamara, and Sherwood McNamara; and sister-in-law Patricia McNamara.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memories sister-in-law Etta McNamara; brother-in-law Rudell Molock, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
