Shirley Mae Carr, age 76, died peacefully on the morning of April 25, 2013 at her home in Hurlock, Maryland, after a brief struggle with cancer. Shirley Mae was born July 25, 1936, in Vienna, Maryland and the loving daughter of the late Hattie Mae Dennard and Arthur Davis. Shirley thoroughly enjoyed music, enjoyed attending church, adored everyone's children and called them as her own. Shirley also had a love for pets and had a favorite family dog "Lexi" who she became attached to. Lexi would bring a smile to her face on each and every visit. Shirley received her education in the Dorchester County School System. Many years ago Shirley was employed as a processing line worker for the local tomato factory. Shirley was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, Maryland up into the days leading to her failing health. Shirley will leave behind two beautiful daughters Bonnie L. Carr of Newark, Delaware and Cynthia V. Carr of Hurlock, Maryland, Grandchildren: Melissa L. Carr of Newark, De, Antoine J. Brumble of New Castle, Delaware, Durell H. Carr of Hurlock, Maryland. Siblings: Mabel Dennard of Vienna, Phillip Dennard of Vienna, Vernon(Toots) Dennard of Cambridge, Fred Dennard of Cambridge, Maryland and Theresa Dennard of Cambridge, Maryland. Shirley will also leave a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends that were dear to her. Shirley was preceded in death by her son Christopher Carr (died at birth), Loving Parents Hattie Mae Dennard and Arthur Davis, her siblings Oma "Marlene" Dennard and Leroy "Grip" and a nephew, Michael Dennard all of Vienna, Maryland. Services will be Sat., May 4, 2013 1pm at Wesley UM Church Vienna with a viewing two hours prior. Interment in Vienna Cemetery.
