\nSherita Rene Candy departed this life on Friday, September 22, 2023 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Maryland. She was born in Dorchester County on July 8, 1962 to the late Delores Jenkins and Archie Hawkins.\n\nShe received her education at North Dorchester High School and graduated in 1980. She attended Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Preston, Maryland at a young age. Sherita always loved the Lord.\n\nSherita worked for several years in Cambridge, Maryland and Easton, Maryland in the Medical Field. She faithfully worked at William Hill Manor, until her health began to fail her. \n\nSherita or “Rita” as she was affectionately known, was a loving mother, amazing wife, and a caring sister. She loved watching football, completing word searches and playing bingo. Rita was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan.\n\nShe was preceded in death by her two brothers: Bernard Shaffer Hawkins and Archie D. Hawkins.\n\nRita leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Gregory Candy; four children: LaShika Jenkins (MD), Deon Jenkins (PA), Alicia Candy(Timothy) (GA), and Monique Brown(Theresa) (MD); five brothers, Bruce Jenkins(Evelyn) (LA), Cornell Jenkins (MD), Russell Hawkins (NJ), Richard Bolden(Arnetra) (MD), Richard Chaffer(Charmaine) (NJ); ten sisters: Deeirdra Batson(Troy) (DE), Lauretta Jenkins(Mark) (MD), Tracy Jenkins (MD), Marsha Jenkins (MD), Veronica Holland(Jerry) (MD), Charlene Falls (MD), Sharon Whitfield-Hawkins (NJ), Robin Hawkins (NJ), MaDonna Hawkins (NJ), and Dolcie Rice (NJ); 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
