Sheldon Jackson Obituary (1945

Sheldon Barry Jackson Sr. peacefully departed this life on Monday, April 4, 2011, in Cambridge, Maryland. He was born on March 16, 1945 in Cambridge, MD, son of the late Mary Catherine (Jackson) Simmons and Joseph Rowley. He was raised by Minnie Rowley. Sheldon attended school at St. Clair Elementary and Mace's Lane High School in Cambridge, MD. He was employed with several businesses throughout Cambridge with his last place of employment being Cambridge Wal-Mart where he worked with his sons Kellan and Korey Jackson. Sheldon leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 43 years, Dolores M. Jackson; eight children, Sheldon B. Jackson (his friend, Shirelle Green), Kellan J. & Justin K (his friend, Jessica (all of Cambridge, MD), Anthony J. and Kevin L. Jackson (both of Omaha, NE), Donald L. Jackson (wife, Regina), Dover, DE, Tonya C. Jackson Chester (husband, Jeff), Charlotte, NC and Tonya C. Jackson-Jones (her husband, David), Columbia, SC; six brothers, Gertha A. Rowley, Lawrence Simmons, Vaughn Simmons, Harold Simmons, Lamont Simmons and Lance Simmons; seven sisters, Wendy Rowley Wilson, Barbara Rowley Santiago, Joan Rowley Hills, Debbie Rowley, Joanne Rowley, Deborah Simmons and Rebecca Woods; 22 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; Sheldon had a favorite uncle that he always looked up to, Carlton Rowley and a very close friend, he could always depend on, Joe Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ernestine Rowley, Geraldine Rowley and Tina Rowley and three brothers, Donnie Rowley, Christopher Rowley and Lloyd Simmons Jr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 11am at St. John Holiness Church Cambridge with a viewing Monday evening 6-8pm at the church.
