Cambridge, Maryland
Shameka Tysha Cropper Major, 51, was born July 21, 1974 in Cambridge, Maryland to Linda Cropper and Garry Berry. She peacefully transitioned from life to reward on March 30, 2026, at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, Maryland surrounded by her loving family.
Shameka was a member of the Cambridge South Dorchester High School “Class of 1992”. She completed her GED in 2009.
As a teenager, she was a member of the double dutch team under the leadership of Rick Kirwan. She loved to dress up and keep her hair “laid to the side” in a perfect style.
She loved reading, cooking, going out, having a good time with her family, and watching movies. She loved the hymns “I Won’t Complain” and "The Storm Is Over Now”. Despite her illness, since childhood, she never complained and her storm is over. Her cloudy days are gone and she rode out the storm.
She attended the National Church of God under the leadership of Rev. Leo Molock.
Shameka had a strong work ethic, and had been employed at Cold Water Seafood and Easton House in the Pines. Her last employment was Delmarva Community Services until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her father, her son Jamal Major; her grandson Tykler Cornish; her grandmothers Eloise Spicer and Sarah Berry; grandfathers Robert Spicer, Brice Montgomery, and Harvey Berry, Sr.; brothers-in-law Leo Molock, Taron Anderson, and Darnell Nichols, uncles Larry, Kenneth, and Timothy Berry; and aunt Joyce Conaway.
Shameka leaves to cherish her memory her mother Linda Cropper; her husband Colby Major, Sr., daughter Colbrea Major; son Colby Major, Jr.; sister Sharonda Darling; brother Garry Berry, Jr.; grandchildren Me'Auni Hayman, Kingston Johnson, and Tykorie Cornish; cousin/sister Tywana Cropper Green (Terrence); special cousins Timajia Johnson, and Marquita Addison (Brett); father and mother in law Rev. Leo Molock and Ruth Molock; brother-in-law Terence Nichols; sister-in-law Tysheka Anderson; uncles Henry, Andre, and Gregory Berry; aunts Tonya Berry, Donna Murry, Barbara Cannon, Shirleen Johnson (Tommy), Lola Hobbs, Louise Jones, Loretta Cropper, Floretta Cropper, Shirley Jones, Jeanette Pritchett, bonus aunt Mary Elliott; special friends, Larissa Sampson, Lakeyia Seymore, and Tameka Smith; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shameka fought a good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
