Sandra G. Thompson, of Cambridge, Md, departed this life on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the University of Maryland Hospital at the age of 61.\n \n She was born Sandra G. Kane on May 25, 1947 to her parents Geraldine Kane and Thomas Henry, Sr. Sandy married her high school sweetheart Robert Thompson, Sr. on June 19, 1965. Three children were born from this union, Tonya, Sonya and Robert.\n \n She graduated from Maces Lane High School Class of 1965 in Cambridge, Md. For several years she worked as a nurse's aide at Dorchester General Hospital.\n \n In 1982 Sandy accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. She was an active member of Kingdom Church & Ministries. Her favorite songs included "To God Be The Glory" and "I've Come This Far By Faith." Psalms 121 was her favorite scripture.\n \n Sandy was well loved by her family and friends. She expressed an awesome love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them and spoke of them often. She spent much time praying for their success in life. One of her favorite talents was that she loved to cook and "oh how we enjoyed that!"\n \n In addition. to her parents, she leaves to mourn a loving and dedicated husband, Robert Thompson, Sr.; her children, Tonya Thompson (Derrick), Sonya Young (Granville), Robert Thompson, Jr. (Kristie); seven grandchildren, Chardon Saunders, Deja Thompson, Gary and Coree Young, LaVasha, Mykira and Robert J. Thompson; ten siblings, Jerry Burroughs, Thomas Henry (Beverly), Jr., Gary Kane, Bonnie Kane, Tommaine Jackson, Joanna Moses, Mary Lynn Lewis, John Henry (Doris), Sherman Henry and Roland Mifflin (Lynn); sisters and brothers in-law, Lillian Jolley (James), Fred Thompson, Evangeline Brummell (James), Gloria Henry, George Thompson (Barbara), Samuel Thompson (Glenda) and Cora Thompson; a goddaughter, Bridget Stanley; a spiritual grandson, Christopher Brisco and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wilbert & Nellie Payne; sisters in-law, Marilyn Thompson-Green, Shirley Thompson and Rose Bailey and brother in-law, Norman Thompson\n \n Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 1pm at Souls Harbor Church Peachblossom Ave Cambridge, MD. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening 6-7pm at Kingdom Church & Ministries Cambridge Beltway Cambridge, MD. There will be no viewing.
