Ruth Ella Major Clash, 87 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, MD.\n \n\n Aunt “Sister” as she was affectionately called was born on November 1, 1928 in Kilmarnock, VA to the late George Edward Major and Annie Delores Dilver Major. In 1945, Ruth graduated from Frederick Douglas, St. Clair High School in Cambridge.\n \n\n On May 24, 1948, Ruth married the love of her life, the late William “Carl” Clash. Together they made a beautiful life. They lived, loved and laughed together. For many years they shared the responsibility as the Caretakers of a home in St. Michaels, MD during the winter. Ruth also worked at several manufacturing industries in the local area, later retiring from J. M. Clayton’s Seaford Company.\n \n\n Ruth was a member of the National Church of God in Cambridge MD under the late Elder Jeremiah B. Cox. On September 20, 1987, Ruth was baptized at Evangelistic Church of Christ, Inc by the late Elder Wallace Thompson.\n \n\n Ruth was known for her good home cooking. She made the very best Yocks, Crabcakes, Greens, and Potato Salad. As the Matriarch of her family, she loved singing hymns, sharing history, sharing priceless recipes, and spreading the word of God to all that would listen.\n \n\n She leaves to cherish her memory four nieces, Coleta Major Lee (Boyd), Teresa Major Banks (Richard), Ruth Major Molock (Leo), all of Cambridge MD, and Dianna Lee Ennals of New Jersey; eight great nieces, Sheila Johnson Jones (DeAdrein), Angela Major, TaVonya Chester, Lavanda Major, and Lawonda Major Prattis (Ronald), all of Cambridge, Christal Dixon of Atlantic City NJ, Carlena Ennals, and Yogananda Cornish all of New Jersey; seven great nephews, Donald Major, Colby Major Sr.(Shameka), Paul Pinder, all of Cambridge, Glen Wilson Sr. of Dover DE, Robert Johnson Jr. of Hagerstown MD, Ernest “Hurt”Ennals and David Ennals, all of New Jersey; three Caregivers, Teresa Major Banks, Sheila Jones and great-great niece Kashia Copeland, and a host of other family members and friends.\n \n\n Ruth is preceded in death by her husband William Clash; her parents, George Edward Major and Annie Major; two brothers, Thomas Major, Rudell Major; two sisters Laurice Major Johnson, and Doris Bailey; one niece, Sylvia Major Pinder; two nephews, Robert Johnson Sr., and Guy Major; two great nephews, Edwin Wilson, and Leo Molock Jr.
