Rosa Mae Brown Johnson Chase, 62, formerly of Centreville, Md, departed this life on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Hospice of Queen Annes in Centreville, MD. Born September 20, 1949, daughter of the late John Henry & Gladys Brown, attended the public schools of Queen Annes County. She was a graduate of Queen Annes County High School, Class of 1968. "Romae" or "Ms. Rose", was employed with various business within the Queen Annes County area such as Corsica Hills Nursing Home, Ms. Bea's Truck Stop, Hillside Inn, private sitting for William Turpin, The Lamottes, Mrs. Connors and driving for Chester Wye. She loved praising the Lord, her family, grandchildren and cherished her close bond with her "Angel" granddaughter, Keya. Her hobbies were playing Bingo, listening to her gospel music, shopping, fishing, talking on the telephone with her friends, Shirely, Ruth, Chris and Margaret and helping others until her sickness kept her from doing so. Rosa was a caring and loving person to everyone she came in contact with. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Purnell Johnson and a brother, Floyd Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Katrina Johnson (Wendell); a son, Joseph Johnson Jr. (Heather); grandchildren, Zachary Johnson (Chestertown), Shakeya Gray (Church Hill), Ahmad Gray(Church Hill), Elizabeth Anderson (Sam), Kelsey Walters (Chestertown), Austin Wilson and Ciera Coles (both of Church Hill) and Keona Batten (Portsmouth, VA); great grandchildren, Gene Trice III, Amirr Coles, Laila Coles and Austin Wilson Jr. (AJ); four sisters, Sarah (Baltimore), Adelena Brown (Centreville), Betty Wilson (Chestertown) and Verlena Wilson (North Carolina); two brothers, John Brown (Easton) and James Brown (Penns Grove, NJ); a special niece, Christina Bordley; host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a friend that stood by her side at all times, Nelson Demby; a special friend, Charles Scott and Shirley Foote and a host of children in the Centreville area she extended extra love and affection and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 1pm at Bethel AME Church Spaniard Neck Rd Centreville, MD with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Interment in the Male & Female Beneficial Association #3 Cemetery in Burrisville, MD.
