Robert Pierce, son of the late Percy Pierce Sr. and Lina Pauls Pierce was born December 27, 1939, in Chester, Maryland. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at his home after a lengthy illness.\n \n Robert received his education in the Chester Elementary School and Kennard High School in Centreville, Maryland. He was brought up in a Christian home and his love for God began at an early age. He was a member of Union Wesley United Methodist Church in Chester, Maryland.\n \n Robert, living on Kent Island all of his life, he loved the water. He worked as a waterman for many years. Robert, also worked at the Maryland House of Correction in Jessup, Maryland from which he retired in 1987 after twenty years of service. He enjoyed sports especially baseball and boxing. He also loved talking about the old times.\n \n Robert met and married Barbara Brown on November 24, 1983 in Chester, Maryland.\n \n Que or Bye Bye, as he was affectionately called by his family and those close to him, was a gentle, generous, loving and caring person. He will be remembered as a hard worker always willing to help others and show concern for their welfare. This is evidenced by his many acts of kindness to family, friends and community. He touched the lives and hearts of many people with whom he came in contact. His life was a pattern of good works and sacrifices. He demonstrated love toward everyone. He was especially loving and generous with his grandchildren and they affectionately called him Pop Pop Que.\n \n In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Pierce.\n \n He leaves to treasure and cherish his precious memory, two sons, Robert Reginald Moody (Juanita), Wilmington, DE and Robert Laverne Pierce (Chester, MD); one daughter, Teron Apple Pierce (Chester, Maryland); nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Percy Pierce Jr. and Thomas Pierce (both of Chester, MD) and John Pierce (New Castle, DE); three sisters, Betty Knowlin (Grasonville, MD), Jane Boyd (Manson, NC) and Diana Jones (Clinton, MD); one brother in-law, Rev. David Boyd (Manson, NC); one uncle, Sustin Bennett Jr. (Baltimore, MD) and a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and acquaintances.\n \n Services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 12 noon at Union Wesley UM Church Chester, MD with a viewing two hours prior. Interment in the church cemetery.
