Robert McKinley Harris departed this life on July 21, 2011 at the Chester River Manor Nursing Home in Chestertown, MD. Robert was born on April 23, 1921 to the late Spencer and Bertha Harris. He joined the Aaron Chapel United Methodist Church in Rock Hall at a very early age. Robert graduated from the Sharptown Elementary School and later graduated from Henry Highland Garnett High School. Soon thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served with an honorable discharge.\n \n He worked many years as a truck driver for Williams Brothers Garage in Rock Hall. He enjoyed singing and the love of people around him. He was well known in his circle of friends as "Bobby". Preceding him in death were: his son, Robert Harris, Jr.; two brothers: James and Charles Harris and one sister, Mildred Hawkins. Left to cherish fond memories: a loving sister (Etta A. Hopkins) of Rock Hall, a grandson (Refail Harris), a sister-in-law (Mildred Harris), of Chester River Manor Nursing Home), his caretakers~ Etta and Anthony T. Hawkins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. Services will be Sat. July 30, 2011 11 am at Aaron Chapel UM Church Crosby Rd Rock Hall with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be private at the family's convenience.
