Richard Austin Thomas, Sr. (Dickie) was born on August 28, 1944, to both deceased, Charles Johnson and Daisy Thomas. He passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Chesapeake Woods Rehab Center. Richard achieved his education in Baltimore City Public schools. He began his workforce career in different areas. He worked for Baltimore City; Crown, Cork & Seal; Priceless and Exxon. Before his demised he was employed with Arbutus Cemetery as the Grounds Keeper in Baltimore. Richard was married to Alice Thomas on October 18, 1964, in Baltimore, Maryland. They moved to Cambridge, MD in 2006 which was his final residence before sunset. Richard was the type of guy who had a readily smile. He loved family reunions and especially his siblings. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll Gross and James Sayles; two sisters, Ella Mae Thomas and Margaret Clarke; and one son Richard Austin Thomas, Jr. Richard leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Alice Thomas; three sons, Devin, Dana and Darren Thomas (all of Baltimore); two sisters, Rev. Bertha C. Northam (Howard) of Cambridge, MD, Ida Youman of Cambridge, MD; one brother, Charles Gross (Margaret) of Crofton, Maryland; five grandchildren of Baltimore, MD, Amari, William Thompson, Karon, Davon and Julz Thomas; two great-grandchildren of Baltimore, MD, Iry'onna Thomas and Kierra; two sisters in-law; four brothers in-law. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative and friends.\n \n Services will be Sat., 12 noon at Bethel AME Church Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior. Interment in the church cemetery.
