Preston Keene Sr. of Cambridge, Maryland died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 peacefully at his home of residence (804 Wood Street). Born on March 27, 1927, son of the late Neta Keene and George Hooper, Preston attended the public schools of Dorchester County and during his eleventh (11\n \n th\n \n ) year at Frederick St. Clair High School in the class of 1946 he was drafted into the United States Army.\n \n\n After serving for his country, Preston worked for the city of Cambridge before beginning his career as a Certified Scaffolding Builder with Allen Tyler and Son Construction, from which he later retired. After retiring from Allen Tyler and Son Construction, he was later employed at the Department of Housing Authority and Steve Conn and Son Masonry before fulfilling total retirement.\n \n\n Preston was a hard-working and well respected family man who lived a long fulfilling life and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.\n \n\n To mourn his passing and to cherish his memories, he leaves his wife Vivian Keene; daughter Louvenia Nichols and her husband William, daughter Althea Foster and her husband John, Cambridge, Maryland; two step daughters, Katrina Drones, Woodstock, Georgia and DeAnna Davis and her husband Larry, Lawrenceville, Georgia; one step son, Wilbert Johnson Jr. and his wife Erin, Lawrenceville, Georgia; seven grandchildren, William Jr., Alysia, Zenia, Andrea, Wanda, Preston Lamar and Kvonte; fifth teen step grandchildren, Dasia, Joseph, Onealious Jr., Troy, Patrick Jr., Leteese, DaWasia, Wilbert III, Denzel, Kylon, Kristina, Katlean, Mikayla, Kristopher and Jayden; 5 great grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; 3 great great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, a cherished grandson Keith Dawson, Cambridge, Maryland and other cousins and friends.\n \n\n In addition to his mother and father, Preston was preceded in death by his grandfather Russ; grandmother Tina; first wife Bertha; son Preston Jr.; step daughter Leila; grandson Preston III; three brothers Robert, James and Nathaniel; two sisters Isabell and Rosalie; one uncle Jonas, and one aunt Ida.\n \n\n Services will be held on Mon., April 21\n \n st\n \n . 11am at Bethel AME Church Cambridge with a viewing two hours prior. Interment in Veterans Cemetery.
