Peggy L. Camper, 82 , died Sat. March 23, 2013 at Dimples Manor in Cambridge, MD. She was born December 24, 1930 in Cambridge, Maryland, daughter of the late Lesless and Jennie Camper. Peggy attended Pine Street School and was a graduate of F.D. St. Clair High School Class of 1948. After high school, Peggy became employed as a dedicated babysitter for Irvina Johnson, Ingrid Gibson-Harris and Sheri Wingate. Peggy retired after several years of employment with Dorchester General Hospital. Peggy was a member of Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church during her youth and adulthood. When her health failed, she was cared for by Jeannette and Anita at Dimples Manor. Peggy regularly attended Kingdom Church and Ministries with Jeannette. She enjoyed church, sports, travel, music and art. She was excellent at drawing. Over the years, Peggy won several contest. She was also a skilled painter who would paint a wall or woodwork with perfection. At Christmas, Peggy enjoyed celebrating her birthday with family and friends. In conversation, Peggy was a good listener. She would hesitate before answering with a gleam in her eye, expressing her opinion with a smile. Peggy was known to be quiet spoken. Peggy is survived by two sisters, Jean Miller and Faye Anderson; Carol Camper who was like a daughter but felt like a sister; Milton Wingate, who was like a brother including many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving her in death are Jeannette and Anita who became family to Peggy. Preceding her in death, her parents Mr. & Mrs. Lesless Camper and her brother, Robert Camper and Louis Wingate who was like a brother to Peggy. Services will be Sat. March 30th 1pm at Waugh Chapel UM Church 425 High St Cambridge, MD with a viewing one hour prior. Interment in Waugh Cemetery. Condolences sent to www.henryfuneralhomepa.com.
