Otis Johnson 87 of Cambridge, MD, departed this life on June 17, 2012 at the Mallard Bay Nursing Home. He was born on July 12, 1924, husband of the late Louise Johnson for 56 years and son of the late Lillian Johnson and Peter McCready. In May 1943 he joined the United States Army. He fought in the war in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Otis received several citations and metals such as the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. After serving many years he was honorably discharged. Once he left the Army, Otis received his CDL license which he became a long distance truck driver. Otis Johnson was a member of Zion Baptist Church where the Elder Craig Mathis is pastor. He served on the Usher and Trustee Boards for many years. Otis has a passion for cooking and driving. He is survived by William Ellis (Hazel) and Curtis Johnson, whom he raised as his own sons; one sister in-law, Mildred Johnson; three brothers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerome, Bernard and James Johnson and three sisters, Rose Cephas, Daisy and Annette Johnson. Services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 10am at Henry Funeral Home PA Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior. Interment 12 noon at the Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
