Master Sergeant Kevin B. Howell USAF (ret.) died Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 56. Kevin was born in Easton, Md on February 1, 1952. The son of Doris M. Howell of Bellevue, MD and the late Donald Wallace Howell.\n \n Kevin attended elementary school in Talbot County, and Straubing Germany. He graduated from St. Michaels High School and was a member of The National Honor Society. Kevin attended Rensaler Polytechnic Inst. And Salisbury State College before joining the Air Force. While in the Air Force he pursued a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Phoenix. His assignments included Castle A.F.B in California, Patrick A.F.B in Florida, Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska, The American Embassy in Pakistan, Lajes Field Azores, Portugal, then Andrews AFB Maryland where he retired after more than 21 years service. Kevin's favorite hobbies were fishing, and building and flying model airplanes. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kevin was known for his outgoing personality, and friendly smile, he never met a stranger.\n \n He was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Marlene Milbourne, and an infant grandson, Guy D. Brummell, Jr.\n \n He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 18 years, Senior Master Sergeant, Sharon James Howell USAF (ret.); his mother, Doris M. Howell; and his mother in-law, Carmen Clarke (Philadelphia, PA); a daughter, Lare M. Bloodsworth (Jesse), Sacramento, CA; two sons, Guy D. Brummell (Royal Oak, MD) and Staff Sgt. Kevin B. Howell, Jr. (Christina), Waldorf, Md; nine grandchildren, Tommy, Brandon, Ian, Jenna, Deontrae, Ashley, Keila, Brianna and Kianna; a sister, June E. Dickerson (Lampassas, Texas); a brother, Donald E. Scott (Killeen, Texas); an uncle, Linwood Moore (Citrus Heights, CA); two nieces, Donna B. Young (Terence), Royal Oak, MD and Lynda M. Scott (Gatesville, Texas); a nephew, Kevin Scott (Killeen, Texas); a great niece, Kara S. Brummell (Royal Oak); three great nephews, Douglas B. Brummell, Jr. (Royal Oak, MD), Bryan Kelly (Gatesville, Texas) and Anthony Scott (Killeen, Texas); four great great nieces and nephews, Kiara Brummell, Chase, Catrina and Cory Kelly. He had a special relationship with Joseph D. Brummell, whom he regarded like a son and a host of special cousins and friends.\n \n Services will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2008, 11am, at St. Luke UM Church Poplar Lane Bellevue, Maryland with a viewing two hours prior to the services. Interment will follow in Royal Oak Cemetery.
