Melvin Sylvester Haskins, 61, departed this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Talbot Hospice House, Easton, Maryland.\n \n "Mole" as he was affectionately known, was born on April 28, 1946 in Royal Oak, Maryland to the late James Albert Haskins, Sr. and Anna Mackey Haskins. He received his education in the Talbot County School System. On Sept. 3, 1988 he was united into holy matrimony to Vera H. Jenkins.\n \n He was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop. Nothing was too good for his family. He loved working with his hands, and he could fix just about anything. Mole has a heart made of pure gold. He would, give his last, to help someone in need. He loved to pitch horseshoes, play pinochle and watch TV land.\n \n He was employed in various capacities, the latest being with C&E Holdings, under the supervision of Edwin Lewis. Mr. Lewis was not just his employer, he was his friend and confident.\n \n He leaves to mourn his loss his wife of 19 years, Vera; three daughters, Kesha, Maria and Ciara; two granddaughters, Shanice and Jael; two grandsons, Robert and Jalen; a sister, Martha Mason; one brother, Phillip Haskins; one aunt, Aunt Irene Haskins; five brothers in-law, a sister in-law; four nephews, Derrick Smith, Robert Kelly, Raymond Fields and Jonathan Fields; a niece, Joy Fields and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.\n \n Services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008 1pm at St. Luke UM Church Bellevue, Maryland with a viewing two hours prior to the services only. Interment will follow in Royal Oak Cemetery.
