Melcar Jones, departed this life on April 21, 2009, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 24, 1934, to the late Annabell Jones and Edward Beaver.\n \n Melcar, was educated in the public schools of Cambridge. At the tender age of 17, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country until he was severely wounded, upon returning home from Korea, he was fondly nicked named Hook. Mastering mechanics was just one of his many skills despite being wounded.\n \n In 1959, Melcar married Mary Ann Copper, from this union came five children, Cheyenne, Derek, Kim and Stephon (who preceded him in death) and Sharlene. Later on he was blessed with his wife, Louise, whom he fondly called Eve, they were married on Mel's birthday, as she fondly called him, from this union came six children, Donavan (who preceded him in death), Angelo, Anthony, Antonio, Cedric and Curtis. Melcar also has a son, George Kane and a daughter the Shelia Jones (who preceded him in death).\n \n In addition to his parents and children, he was preceded in death by a beloved brother, O'Neal Jones, a devoted step-father, Daddy Buck and a special brother/sister bond with his cousin the late Annabell Chester.\n \n In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to cherish his memory, 33 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, mothers in-law, Eloise Spicer and Karline Copper; three sons in-law, Rodney Blango, David Flipping and Dr. Joseph Williams; two daughters in-law, Denisea Johnson and Sheretta Cropper; ten sisters in-law, Lola Hobbs, Doris Milbourne, Shirleen Cropper, Carolyn Holland, Linda Cropper, the late Lucinda Cropper, Loretta Cropper, Floretta Cropper, Jeanette Pritchett and Shirley Pritchett; seven brothers in-law, Russell Pritchett, Raymond Copper, the late Kenneth Copper and the late Issac Holland; two god daughters, Rose Hawkins and Patricia Lee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 3pm at St. Luke UM Church 712 Bradley Ave Cambridge, MD with a viewing Friday evening 6-8 pm at Henry Funeral Home, PA 510 Washington St Cambridge and one hour prior to the services.
