Maurice Chase, known to family and friends as "Reesee" departed this life on Mon., Dec. 10, 2012 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home in Cambridge, MD. He was 65 years old. Born November 13, 1947 in Easton, MD, he was the son of the late James E. Brooks and Catherine Chase. At the age of 6 he was adopted by his aunt, Mamie E. Brooks. Reese attended Moton High School in Easton, MD where he excelled in both sports and academics. Upon graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Air force where he served proudly. He was employed for 20 years at the Elks Lodge #1622 as an associate in charge of special events. For a short period of time he was employed with Memorial Hospital in Easton as a Floor Technician. He retired in 2002 after 10 years of service with Black & Decker . In October 1994 he married his true love Valerie Jones who remained faithfully by his side until his final days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Mamie E. Brooks, brother, James "J.T." Brooks, sister, Dinah Collins, five uncles, three aunts and special cousin, Leonard Brooks. He is survived by his devoted wife, Valerie Jones; son, Maurice "Birdie" Hutchins; two daughters, Tyandra Hines and Kimberly Hutchins; brothers, Gelson Brooks and Donald Collins; grandson, Marquan Brummell; a special niece, Annette Sanchez and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n Services will be Wed., Dec. 19th 11am at Bethel AME Church Easton, MD with a viewing Tues. evening 6-8pm at the church. Interment in Richard's Memorial Park Easton, MD.
