Mary Evelyn Killette Harris, 62 of Cambridge, departed this life on Monday, November 9, 2009 at her home.\n \n She was born February 4, 1947 in Hurlock, MD, daughter of Lawrence and Evelyn Johnson Killette Sr.\n \n Mary dedicated her life to family. With a husband of 38 years, the late Thomas M. Harris Sr., she raised three children and was instrumental in raising two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She played such a significant role in the lives of their friends they would call her grandmom or mom-mom also. Mary had such a special way of dealing with young people that was so endearing and comfortable. She will forever be remembered as the quiet, gentle, encouraging and uplifting force behind the scenes, that so many have come to know and love.\n \n It was October 8, 2009 that she love she so freely gave to others, she extended again to Christ. She accepted Christ at 7:30pm with Minister Regina Jenkins.\n \n She will be missed by all who knew her.\n \n Mary will forever be cherished by her children, Raymond Killette, Sandra Killette, and Thomas M. Harris Jr; grandchildren, Danielle R. Brown and Ashley Cephas; one great grandchild, Ja'Niyah Stanley; one brother, Lawrence Killette (Delores); three sisters, Correne "Jackie" Cannon, Julia Loftin and Margaret Stanley and a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friends who were like sisters, Gwen, Regina and Irene.\n \n Homegoing services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 1pm at Bethel AME Church 623 Pine St Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
