Martha Bell Tilghman, 86, died Fri., March 7\n \n th\n \n at House in the Pines Easton, MD.\n \n\n Born December 19, 1927 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Harold Bell and Grace Price Nickens. She was educated in the public schools of Crisfield, MD. Martha was married to the late Vernon Tilghman. Due to employment, Martha and her husband moved to Pennyslvania. She was employed as a Domestic Worker, catering for affluent families within the Pennsylania area with her aunt and uncle.\n \n\n Martha and her husband never had children, but she raised all her siblings and loved her nieces and nephews abundantly. She was also a good cook.\n \n\n In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Mervin Christian and three sisters, Donna Jean Nickens, Alene Alsup and Violet Roy.\n \n\n Her memory shall be cherished by two brothers, Joseph Nickens (Mary) and Percy Nickens (Linda); a sister, Marlene Pollard; a nephew, whom she raised as her own, Michael Alsup and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n Services will be held on Fri., March 14\n \n th\n \n 2pm at Henry Funeral Home PA 510 Washington St Cambridge, MD with a viewing one hour prior. Interment in Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD.
