Marian Delema Woolford, 77, died January 3, 2010 in Anchorage Nursing & Rehab Center, Salisbury, MD. Her last place of resident prior to her illness was at Victoria Park at Sassafras Meadows, Salisbury, MD.\n \n Marian was born in Church Creek, MD on February 6, 1932 to the late William and Viola Rhodes. She attended schools in Dorchester County, MD. She married on June 22, 1949 and was a Stay-At-Home Mom. Upon the dissolution of this marriage, Marian raised her five (5) children as a single parent. She entered the workforce as a Seamstress working in a sewing factory. There were also periods when she worked two or three part-time jobs and/or seasonal jobs to support her family. In 1964 Marian was hired as a State Employee. In 1970, she purchased her first home. After 32 years of working at the State Hospital located in Cambridge, MD she retired from a Psychiatric Aide position.\n \n In retirement she devoted more of her time doing the Lord's work. Marian was an active member of the United Faith Church of Deliverance, Salisbury, MD. Up until her recent illness, Marian attended church services regularly. She worked tirelessly on community outreach projects and enjoyed helping individuals in needs. Her family including her church family, who called her "Mother Woolford," was the center of her universe. She cherished and actively participated in the family gatherings (spending quality time with her loved ones and always willing to lend a helping hand). Her hobbies included knitting, gardening and site-seeing. Her most memorable trip abroad in 1999 was to the Holy Land a�" tours in Israel, Jerusalem and Jordan. Other trips included, but were not limited to, Colorado, Arizona, Mississippi, South Carolina, Florida, Texas and the Bahamas.\n \n In addition to her parents Marian was preceded in death by sisters: Helen Josephine Conaway and Laurena Elizabeth Stanley; brothers, William (Haddaway) Conaway and Henry James Rhodes.\n \n Marian is survived by her daughters, Viola Woolford of MD, Delema (James) Pinder, VA and Verna Jolley (DE); sons, Calvin Woolford, Charles (B. Denise) Woolford of NJ; sister, Marie (Elsbert) Todd; brothers, Daniel (Dolly) Rhodes and Arthur Rhodes of MD; sisters in-law, Minnie Rhodes and Corina Rhodes of CO; aunt, Frances Conaway Gilbert of MD; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 1pm at United Faith Church of Deliverance 1808 Jersey Road Salisbury, MD with a viewing one hour prior to the services. Interment in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Salem, MD.
