Minister Malissa Mae McCoy Jackson-Tilghman,58, departed this life on Sunday September 2, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. She was born December 4,1953 in Cambridge, Md. She was united in Holy matrimony to Mr. Johnny Tilghman, Sr. on June 23,1990. Before her illness she was an active and faithful member of New Life Christian Church and Ministries Cambridge, MD. She was an affiliate of Thee House of Prayer Way of the Cross Church in Easton, MD now and again during her illness. She was educated in Dorchester County Schools were she graduated and received her Diploma. She loved the Lord and was an ordained minister. She attended Chesapeake College where she received a Nursing Degree, she also attended the Christian World College of Theology, where she received her associates Degree in 2002, and also in 2004 her Bachelor's Degree in Theology. She was previously employed as a manager in the Greenwood Avenue apartments. She was an entrepreneur of two local restaurants in Cambridge MD, where she loved cooking. She started a charity known as "Lending a Helping Hand", to help those who were in need. She designed clothing and was a seamstress, making her own clothing. She also created and fashioned dolls and became an entrepreneur in that as well. She took pleasure in cooking and baking, inviting everyone to dinners and special gatherings, She truly demonstrated the fruit of the spirit, she gave; lots of love and extended joy to others, yet at the same time being long suffering, and very gentle. She spread her goodness, truly kept the faith, showing meekness and bottomless temperance. She was preceded in death by, her father the late Filmore McCoy, her mother the late Jessie McCoy, and her eldest brother the late Ozel McCoy. She leaves to cherish many joyful memories; her pride and joy her only son; Timothy McCoy Sr., a Daughter-in-law Dyzander McCoy both of Hurlock, MD, 1 granddaughter: Ke'Asia Rowley of Hurlock, MD; 4 grandsons: Christain McCoy of Cambridge, MD , Timothy McCoy Jr. and Timmiracle McCoy both of Hurlock, MD and Rhashean Moaney of Preston, MD, 5 step children Freida Henry (Carol), Johnny Tilghman Jr., Johnett Travers (Gary), Jovanda Tilghman and Tywanda Tilghman, 14 step grandchildren, 1 sister Westine Kane of Cambridge, MD, 2 brothers Price McCoy Sr. and James McCoy Sr. (Mona Lisa) both of Cambridge, MD, 6 nieces, 15 nephews, a special aunt, Catherine Ennels and a multitude of cousins and exceptional friends. Special recognition and gratitude to Bishop Weldon Johnson, First Lady Jacqueline R. Johnson, and Pastor O.H. Pinkney for their; love, prayers, and support during and after her illness.\n \n Services will be Sat. Sept. 8th, 9am at New Life Christian Church & Ministries Cambridge, MD with a viewing Friday evening 6-8pm at Henry Funeral Home PA t Cambridge and one hour prior to service.
