Lorraine B. Palmer, 61, born on October 20, 1947 in Taylors Island, MD in Dorchester County, passed away on April 2, 2009 at Mallard Bay Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Jones, Sr. and Dorothy Jones. On August 6, 1994 she married the love of her life Thomas H. Palmer.\n \n Lorraine was a loving and compassionate person who was always ready to give good sound advice. She was adored by her family and friends, and will be remembered for her beautiful smile. She was a member of the former Lane United Methodist Church in Taylor's Island, Maryland.\n \n Lorraine attended Taylor's Island School 1st through grade 6th , St.Clair Elementary School for 1 year (7th grade), Maces' Lane High School for 4 years where she graduated with a High School Diploma in 1965. She also attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD in 1967-1968, and Salisbury State Teacher's College for 2 years where she graduated in May 1980 with a BA degree in Social Work.\n \n She was employed by Rob Roy's, Dorchester County Public Library, Airpax Electronics. Lorraine began her employment with the Dorchester County Department of Social Services as a Medical Assistance worker on January 3, 1992. On November 3. 1993 she transferred to Adult Services as a case manager for Project Home Care. She worked in Project Home until her death. This past year she was awarded, "Social Worker of the Year" for Dorchester County.\n \n Lorraine is survived by her husband Thomas H. Palmer ( Cambridge); her son, Aaron Jones (Norfork,VA); stepson, Thomas A. Palmer (Gloria), Trappe; four sisters, Judy Rhock (Baltimore), Patricia McNarmara (Donald), Normalee Thompson (Burt), and Linda Elliott; two brothers, Arthur Jones, Jr. (Delilah) and Wayne Jones (Agurtha), all of Cambridge; two aunts, Antionette Green (Russell),Camden, NJ, Goldie Stanley (Philadelphia, PA); one uncle, Travers Stanley (Irene), Cambridge and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n \n Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Jones, Sr. and Dorothy Jones.\n \n Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 1pm at Waugh Chapel UM Church 425 High St Cambridge, Maryland with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
