In Loving Memory
Lawrence “Yvon” Sampson
February 6, 1953 - October 16, 2026
Lawrence “Yvon” Sampson, 73, affectionately known as Yvon, passed away on October 16, 2026, at TidalHealth in Salisbury, Maryland. Born on February 6, 1953, in Dorchester County, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Louis Nathaniel Sampson Sr. and Hilda Sydonia Jones-Sampson.
Yvon graduated from North Dorchester High School in 1971. After graduation, he began working at Coldwater Seafood in Cambridge, Maryland, where he remained until illness interrupted his employment at the age of 39. He later returned to the workforce at the Chesapeake Center in Easton, Maryland, where he continued working until his retirement in 2018.
Yvon identified with the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
Yvon treasured spending time with his family and enjoyed taking vacations with them. He loved watching westerns, bowling, and sharing his passion for classic cars. His knowledge of automobiles was remarkable. While riding down the highway, he could spot a classic car from a distance and identify its year, make, and model. These moments became cherished memories for everyone who rode alongside him. He also enjoyed playing the board game Trouble. When asked if he wanted to play, he would say, “I been in trouble all my life, so why not.”
Yvon’s memory will be cherished by his daughter, Latasha Carr; his three grandchildren, Rachelle Lee, Aniya Carr, and Nasir Logan; his great-granddaughter, Jamari Lee; his siblings, Linda Perry, Amanda Spence, Charlene Elliott (Jerome), and Louis Sampson Jr. (Jacqueline); and his bonus brother, Jerry Rose.
He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews: Latessa Sampson, James Fisher (Tracey), Michael Sampson, Diron Fisher (Nikki), Michele Poulson (Jermaine), Jackita Moore (Adam), Louis Sampson III, Alyssa Sampson, and Keenan Perry; 12 great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; one uncle, Jacob Sampson; two aunts, Delores Henry and Mildred Symonette; and a host of cousins.
In addition to his parents, Yvon was preceded in death by his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; his great-niece, Jaida Moore; his great-nephew, Reign Neal; and his brothers-in-law, Michael Spence and Matthew Perry.
Yvon will be lovingly remembered through family vacations, familiar stories, highway car sightings, and the many everyday moments shared with those who loved him. His memory will remain forever close to their hearts.
