In Loving Memory of LaRose Marie Turner (“Aunt Ree”)

LaRose Marie Turner, affectionately known as “Aunt Ree,” peacefully departed this life on July 15, 2026, at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, surrounded by the love of her family.

Marie was born on March 23, 1963, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Lawrence Lutrel Turner and Emma Lee Ross. She attended James M. Bennett High School and Cambridge-South Dorchester High School before earning an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Chesapeake College.

Known throughout the community as Aunt Ree, Marie was a faithful woman of God who loved attending church and church revivals until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She leaves behind a lasting testimony of God’s love, faithfulness, and grace.

Family was the center of Marie’s life. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was the family’s favorite Aunt and babysitter often joked that she was “done watching babies,” only to welcome them right back into her home. She would laugh and say, “I haven’t seen them since yesterday!” Every child wanted to spend time at Aunt Ree’s house.

To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as “Uma” (Oomma), a name that began with her granddaughter Sanaa and was soon adopted by the rest of the grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She had a special gift for guiding and correcting children with love, wisdom, and patience. Even after family members moved away, she made it a priority to call and check on them, even those living as far away as Florida.

Marie loved cooking and always made sure there was enough food for everyone, especially the children. She also enjoyed fishing, playing video games, family board games, drinking coffee, watching game shows, listening to gospel music, dancing, and braiding hair. Her talent for braiding became so well known that the name “Aunt Ree” spread throughout the community, and her clientele grew quickly. She also used her business education to help countless people complete important paperwork whenever they needed assistance.

Marie later earned her CNA/GNA certification and worked at Chesapeake Woods and other healthcare agencies. Caring for others was more than a job—it was her calling, and she touched many lives through her compassion and dedication.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Lutrel Turner and Emma Lee Ross, and her brothers, Thirlee Sheffield and Lawrence Turner II.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving son, Rozelle Turner of Hagerstown, Maryland; her daughters, Keya Pacheco of Orlando, Florida, Kee’ Yhana Turner Williams, and Kei’ Osha Turner of Cambridge, Maryland; 11 beloved grandchildren: Sanaa Williams , Destiny Hampton-Parker, Te’Mari Williams, Raquel Turner, Jeremiah Pacheco, Kaleb Pacheco, Kairo Williams, Tierro Williams Jr , My’Yhana Brown, Arlo Brown, Milo Brown her devoted sister, Lynette Turner; 6 nieces LaSonya Jones, LaKeisha Dobbins, Keya Jackson, Nicole Marine, Lauren Turner and one niece she lovingly raised, Te’Anna Turner 1 nephew Lawrence Turner lll, 4 great-nieces JaKeila Meekins, Kierra Major, Nia Major and ShaNiqua Marine, 4 great-nephews Tamu Jackson Jr, Kejuan Marine, Joseph Jones Jr, and Christian Jones A host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish her love, wisdom, and unforgettable spirit.
