Henry Luke, Jr.

Henry Luke Jr. departed this life October 3, 2013 at Signature Health Care at Mallard Bay, Cambridge, MD. He was born May 5, 1938 in Thomson, Georgia to the late Henry Luke Sr. and Emma Hampton. Henry attended schools in Thomson before moving to Maryland where he gained employment at Harper & Bateman in Hurlock for over 25 years and then moving on to work for Allen's Family Foods in Hurlock, MD for more than 25 years until his retirement.

Henry enjoyed fishing and hunting with his daughter, sons, and buddies. He even tried his hand at gardening producing so many vegetables that he was giving them away. When he was not fishing, hunting, and gardening he devoted his time to his granddaughter, Na'Tale' - that was her "Pop Pop."

He is survived by wife, Doretha of 34 years, daughter, Aja Luke (Broderick) of Cambridge, four sons; Michael Turner (Estelle), Tony and Andre Luke of Atlanta, Georgia, and Anthony Hughes of Hurlock; two sisters, Mamie Brummell (Robert) and Sarah Hobbs of Hurlock, MD, two aunts, Marie and Mary Lou of Georgia, sisters-in-law; Lena Boulden of Hurlock, MD, Julie Keene of Cambridge, MD, brothers-in-law; Joseph, William, and Augustine Keene, all of Cambridge, MD.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tommie Luke and Walter "Dank" Hampton, and sister, Cora Candy; nine grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A service will be held 1 pm on Saturday, Oct 12th, at Bethel AME Church 623 Pine St, Cambridge with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
