Gloria Jean Bromwell Sydnor, 75, from Cambridge, Maryland, was called to rest on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Atrium University City Hospital, in Charlotte, NC.\n\n\nGloria was born to the late Norma Lee Bromwell and late Waddell Thompson on July 24, 1947. She was educated through the Dorchester County Public School system, graduating from Mace’s Lane High School in 1965.\n\n\nIn 1967, Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Willie James Sydnor 3rd. During their 26 years of marriage they had 3 children: Willie Sydnor 4th, Admiral Sydnor, and Teleah Sydnor Andrews. After her husband passed away in 1993, Gloria met Thomas Guy, and they became lifelong companions.\n\n\nPrior to retirement, Gloria worked at Airpax-Phillip’s Technologies for 20+ years, Legget’s Department Store. Mallard Bay Nursing Home, Hi-Tech Plastics, and Shore Up Head Start.\n\n\nOfficially a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Cambridge, Maryland, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006 where she attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. With her gleeful personality, she quickly made many friends at church and the University City YMCA where she was an avid member of the senior program. She enjoyed yoga class, water aerobics, sit ‘n’ fit, traveling, dinner theater, live plays and performances.\n\n\nHer grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world and she loved traveling the east coast attending their school and sporting events and dance competitions.\n\n\nShe is survived by her children; Willie J. Sydnor IV of Temple Hills, MD. Admiral J. Sydnor (Stephanie) of Bear, DE, and Teleah Sydnor Andrews (Hassan) of Charlotte, NC. Four granddaughters; Mia Fisher, Michaella Moore, Jazmyne Seeney, and Laila Andrews. Two grandsons: Chaz Sydnor and Dorian Andrews. Three great grandchildren: Layoni, Chance, and Chandler, a niece Montez Badger. Long-time companion Thomas Guy; Four sisters: Wanda Badger of Cambridge, MD, Pamela Sawyer of Hampton,VA, Renee Daniels of Williamstown, NJ, Gwen Wheatley of Winsor Mill, MD, her close cousin, Marvel Deshields of Cambridge, MD, her aunt Lorraine Henry of Cambridge, MD and host of cousins, relatives and friends.
