Eugene Glasker Camper

–

Glen Burnie, Maryland

Eugene Glasker Camper, lovingly known as Eugene and “Bitty Baby”, was born on the 24th of November, 1942, in Cambridge, MD, and was the beloved son of the late Sylvester Camper and Florence Roberts. He departed this life on the 17th of August, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication. Eugene was a beacon of generosity, always ready with an open heart and a helping hand, his primary joy in life was making others happy. His loving wife, Rosalee Camper, often said, “Eugene's heart was his greatest attribute. His love for others was immeasurable.”

Eugene was a man of many talents, one of which was his exceptional skills in welding, for which he received a certificate. Despite his professional accomplishments, Eugene remained humble and grounded, always prioritizing his family and friends above all else. His dedication was not limited to his work, as he was an avid RAVENS fan and enjoyed spending time playing cards with his loved ones. His hobbies were a reflection of his sociable personality; he loved the camaraderie of a good card game, the shared joy of a Ravens victory, and the simple pleasure of a shared laugh. As the famous quote by Albert Schweitzer goes, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Eugene lived these words every day of his life.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, sister’s Mable Bailey and DeCota George; niece Bernadette (Brenda) Bailey; and great-nephew Ormond Elliott.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosalee; children Jamilah (Walter) Hines, Angela (Furon) Thomas, Raeqwon Fletcher, Jahaziel Perez, Darryl (Dametria) Wilson, Rolando Newton, Corey Elickson, Towanda (James) Carter, Jr.; 26 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sister Delores Perry; brothers Sylvester (Gloria) Camper and Medford Camper; and brother-in-law Oscar George, special friends Raymond, Carl, Larry, and James; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. As we remember Eugene, we are reminded of another quote that encapsulates his life, "The best portion of a good man's life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love." - William Wordsworth.

We invite you to celebrate Eugene's life by sharing your memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. His story is not just about his journey but about the many lives that he touched along the way. Your shared experiences will serve as a tribute to Eugene's compassionate, dedicated, generous, and loving spirit.
