Ellyn Cooper Obituary (1919

Ellyn Virginia Cooper of Wittman, departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Carliss in Randallstown, MD. She was 90 years young. Born March 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ananias Chambers and Emma McGowan of Baltimore, MD. A graduate of Baltimore City Schools and attended Baltimore Normal School (now known as Bowie State University). Ellyn was an entrepreneur of her own business as a hair stylist in her home for many years until being employed in Talbot County Public Schools at Tilghman Elementary as the school Librarian. After retirement, she became the greatest babysitter to her grandchildren. She was a member of New St.John United Methodist Church in Wittman and a member of the choir. Mrs. Cooper leaves to cherish her memories to her four children, daughter, Tonya Hayman (Ronald), Easton, MD and Carliss Cooper (George) Randallstown; sons, Glenn Cooper (Keri) Spotsylvania, VA and Dana Cooper (Julie), Wittman; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Eubanks; two brothers, Clifton and Donald Chambers; a cousin, Harrison Gross, Jr.; a brother in-law, John Grant. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerome E. Cooper, son, Bernard Stewart and a sister, Ardella Grant. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 10am at New St. John UM Church Tilghman Island Rd Wittman, MD with a viewing Thursday evening 6-8 pm at the church and one hour prior to the services.
