Cleola Cephas Obituary (1926

Cleola V. Cephas, 86 years old born on February 8, 1926 in Lewisburg, North Carolina to the late John and Hannah Vaughn. Cleola entered into eternal rest on November 28, 2012 after a short stay at Dorchester General Hospital. Cleola was raised and attended the public schools in North Carolina until the age of ten she moved to Cambridge, MD. She graduated from F.D. St. Clair High School, Class of 1944. She was employed as a Domestic and Seasonal Worker and her last employment was with Kool Ice Seafood as a crab picker. She took an early retirement to be a loving and dedicated caregiver for her husband. Cleola loved to read the Bible, Upper Room and the Daily Word every day. She liked listening to Heaven 600 and sometimes you would hear her singing the hymns. She loved to ride, one thing for sure you count on her to give you the directions to your destinations. Cleola loved to go out and eat, if you mentioned restaurant before you could ask her she had her coat and hat. She loved to fellowship with her family whenever possible. She always talked about returning to her home in Lewisburg, NC, in 1974 and 2008 her wish was granted. Cleola accepted the Lord at an early age and was a dedicated member of Waugh Chapel UM Church in Cambridge. She was a member of The Community Gospel Choir; sometimes she was known to play the piano for the choir. She was a member of The Circle #3, later called The Women's Society. She served as a member of The Missions Society visiting various nursing homes with her sisters of the church. She also served on The Older Adult Ministry. She was the president of the Communion Stewards for over fifty (50) years. She was also a member of the Oldfield Improvement Association. Cleola was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hannah Vaughn, her husband, George William Cephas Sr. and three brothers, Albert, James and Hilton Vaughn. She leaves a legacy of love to those who cherish her precious memory, a son, George, Jr. (Brenda); a daughter, Charlene Cleola Cephas (both of Cambridge, MD); two granddaughters, Chante' Brown (Waldorf, MD) and Shirlene Travers (Cambridge, MD); three great grandchildren, Chavonte', Kirk, Jr. and Kobe' Brown (all of Waldorf, MD); a great nephew, Victor (Lucy) Vaugh; a great great niece, Simone Vaughn and Sophia Vaughn Morning, (both of North Carolina); step nieces, Mary Magadalene Thorpe, Mattie Doris Ward, Christine (Albert) Tripps, Ramaia (Michael) Stansbury; step nephews, Ernest (Rita) Williams, James Williams, Donnial (Tanya) Williams; a host of cousins, Edward (Ruth) Vaughn (Havre de Grace, MD), Edward was like a brother to her, James (Denise) Owens ((North Carolina), Alice Williams (Baltimore, MD), Michael (Toni) Brown (Reisterstown, MD), Bonnie (Vernone) and son, Jared Stinnett (Upper Marlboro, MD); a special sister in-law, Mary Cephas (Cambridge, MD) and a host of special friends, Leon (Annie) Askins and their two girls and grandson, Connie (Kerman) Travers, Fulton (Mary) Davis, Marion Fisher, Anthony (Barbara) Woolford, (all of Cambridge, MD); she had two caregivers, Ernestine Jones and Chante' Rideout (both of Cambridge, MD). "May the work I've done speak for me." Services will be Saturday, December 8, 2012, 10:30 am at Waugh Chapel UM Church Cambridge with a viewing 1 A� hours prior. Interment Monday, December 10, 2012 10 am Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery Hurlock, MD.
