Chester Eric Thomas Sr., the third of nine children, was born on September 22, 1939 in Bellevue, MD to the late Morris and Etta Thomas. He gained his wings on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Talbot Hospice.\n\nChester received his education from the Talbot County Public School system and was a graduate of Moton High School. After graduation and a short attendance at Bowie State University, Chester relocated to Brooklyn, NY. While in New York, he was employed by the Belmont Stables at the Belmont Racetrack and was pursuing a career in modeling. Chester was employed as a Control Room Operator at Easton Utilities where he retired after 39 years. \n\nWhile living in New York, Chester often traveled back to Easton, MD to visit his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth, whom he would later marry in 1961. Those who knew Chester knew how deeply devoted and loving he was towards his wife Elizabeth. To their union two children were born. Their love created a generational legacy of love, joy, and laughter. \n\nChester was the patriarch of his family and led with quiet strength, kindness, stability, and love. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, friends, and family. Chester was involved in the community and was a lifetime member and son of the American Legion Post 77. He was also a member of the Road Runners CB club. In his later years, he enjoyed watching baseball and football along with spending time with his family. His favorite sports teams were the Washington Commanders (Redskins) and the Baltimore Orioles. \n\nIn addition to his parents, Chester is preceded in death by his brothers Nathaniel, Bruce, and Charles Thomas, Sr.; sisters Delores Sasser and Charlotte Allen; nephews David Alston and Charles Thomas, Jr.; and niece Crystal Allen. \n\nHe is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Thomas; daughter, Ellen Thomas of Easton, MD; son, Chester Thomas Jr of Easton, MD; three grandchildren, Erica Dorsey of Los Angeles, CA; Chelsey Thomas (Tyrell) of Upper Marlboro, MD; and Chester Thomas III (Erene) of Preston, MD; two great-grandchildren, Alexander Dorsey of Los Angeles, CA and Levi Brooks of Upper Marlboro, MD; two sisters Geraldine Dill of Easton, MD; Mary Alston of Brooklyn, NY; a brother Dwight (Alice) Thomas of Salisbury, MD; a sister-in-law Estella Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; an honorary daughter, Charlene Waller; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
