Barry Donquest Lofland (Staten)
July 7, 1961 – September 21, 2026

On September 21, 2026, God called home Barry Donquest Lofland (Staten), a beloved
son, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Born on July 7, 1961, to Ruth Dorine Lofland and
Norman Edward Kellum, Barry lived a life rooted in love, family, and community.

A longtime resident of Easton, Maryland, Barry graduated from North Dorchester High
School with the Class of 1979. After graduation, he attended Chesapeake Community
College, where he hoped to pursue an education in financial planning. Barry began
working for Safeway while still in high school, establishing the strong work ethic he
carried throughout his life. He later worked at Calhoun MEBA Engineering School and
retired from Paris Frozen Foods.

Barry was known for his big heart, steady presence, and joyful spirit. A devoted
Philadelphia Eagles fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his team. He shared his
God-given gift for cooking by catering for local community groups, including the Elks
and the American Legion in Easton. His yock and fried pork chop sandwiches were
favorites. Family and friends also often requested his mac and cheese, collard greens,
and comforting chicken noodle soup. If you were sick, Barry was the one you called.

Barry is survived by his devoted partner, Marian (Earthalee) Cooper; his son, Jermond
L. Jackson (Tavia Copeland); six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He is also
survived by his sister, Siretta Harris of Easton; his brothers, Walter W. Staten (Mary) of
North Carolina and Timothy A. Staten (Athena) of Salisbury, Maryland; and his uncles,
John W. Lofland (Irene) of Dover, Delaware, and James A. Lofland of Seat Pleasant,
Maryland.

He leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom he
cherished and supported with pride. Barry also treasured his godchildren, Khalil Gibson
and Brianna Evans, and held a special place in his heart for his godmother, Ivory
Coursey. He leaves behind his dear friend Wayne Brown, whose friendship meant so
much to him.

Barry’s kindness, strength, and gentle wisdom touched everyone who knew him. He
loved deeply, gave generously, and brightened countless lives. His legacy lives on in the
family and friends who loved him.

May he rest in peace, wrapped in God’s eternal love.
