Barbara Doris Anderson

–

Baltimore, Maryland

Barbara Doris Anderson was born on February 8,1964 in Baltimore Maryland to the late Joseph Tubman and Lena Mary Marshall. She departed this life September 21 ,2026 due to underlying health conditions. Barbara received her education through the Baltimore City Public School System. She attended Lombard Middle School before continuing her education at Southern High School, where she proudly graduated and earned her high school diploma.

During her time at Southern High School, Barbara was actively involved in the marching band and proudly served as Captain of the Flag Unit. Her leadership and school spirit were an important part of her high school experience and reflected the confidence and dedication she carried throughout her life. Barbara continued her education at the Baltimore City Community College of Baltimore County (BCCC), where she studied Business and proudly earned her degree.

Following college, Barbara began working through a temporary employment agency, which eventually led to a permanent position at the University of Maryland Hospital. She worked in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, where she dedicated more than 20 years of service.

During her career, Barbara crossed paths with Ms. Iris Burrell during a visit to H&R Block to have her taxes prepared. That meeting grew into a very special friendship. Barbara later had the privilege of inviting Iris to work alongside her as her secretary in the Nuclear Medicine Department at the University of Maryland Hospital. Over the years, their working relationship blossomed into a lifelong friendship, and the two became best friends.

Barbara met and later married the love of her life, Louis Roger Anderson, on November 6, 1987, in Centreville, Maryland. Their union was built on love, commitment, and family.

Together, Barbara and Louis lovingly raised three children, Michael Marshall, Akeem Anderson, and Miracle Anderson, whom they cherished deeply and loved unconditionally. Family was an important part of Barbara’s life, and the love she had for her husband and children remained at the heart of everything she did.

Barbara truly enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to eat, cook, and bring everyone together for a good cookout filled with food, laughter, music, and love. Spending time with her family brought her great joy, and she treasured the moments they shared together.

Dancing was one of Barbara’s greatest joys and something that always helped keep a smile on her face. It was also something she and her husband, Louis, both loved dearly. Together, they enjoyed dancing the night away, creating special memories that reflected the love, happiness, and fun they shared throughout their life together.

Barbara had a special love for her extended Eastern Shore family and always looked forward to spending time with them. She especially enjoyed coming to the Shore to celebrate the holidays, creating cherished memories during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings—often celebrated comfortably together in pajamas. Family barbecues were another favorite occasion for Barbara. She rarely came empty-handed and was known for bringing an assortment of delicious desserts for everyone to enjoy.

Barbara shared a very special bond with the late Rev. Annie M. Ewell. One of her most treasured memories was the cruise they took together. Barbara spoke fondly of that trip often, and whenever we were in her presence, she would happily reminisce about the wonderful time they had. She also treasured the time she spent with Aunt Eddy Mae, especially learning different recipes and sharing moments together in the kitchen. Of all the dishes she enjoyed, one of Barbara’s favorites was Aunt Eddy Mae’s famous Lazy Day Salad.

Barbara’s visits to the Eastern Shore were filled with family, laughter, good food, and lasting memories. The love and joy she shared during those special times will forever remain in the hearts of her Eastern Shore family.

Barbara also had a giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to her family whenever she could. Whether it was offering support, sharing a meal, or simply being there when someone needed her, Barbara showed her love through the things she did for those closest to her. Family meant everything to Barbara, and creating memories with the people she loved was something she cherished deeply.
