Atonya Chester

–

Cambridge, Maryland

Atanya Tina Crockett-Chester, 52 of Cambridge Maryland. Laid down for her final rest with dignity and resilience as we knew she would, all the while as peaceful and comfortable as she could be. She even had a smile on her face to say so, leaving a pleasant last impression to say the least. She passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022, at The Lake in Salisbury Maryland. Atanya was affectionally known as “Tanya" and "Sister Chester” to all that knew her.

Tanya was born on February 14,1970 in Bridgeport Connecticut. Daughter of the late Onieda Williams and sister to the late Addie Mae Williams. She was educated in the Fairfield County school system and graduated from Warren Harding High School class of 1988. She was employed at Harford Memorial Hospital for several years serving as a dietary technician. Managing to aid and comfort thousands of patients over her tenure.

Tanya was a devoted Jehovah's Witness symbolizing her dedication with baptism on February 10, 1996. She cherished her relationship with her brothers and sisters in the Cambridge Maryland congregation and enjoyed her ministry so much she decided to become a regular pioneer on September 1, 2017, Tanya often talked about Jehovah to as many as she could. She made known her love for her faith to so many people in the community. She was persistent in serving Jehovah and spreading his name worldwide. Throughout her time here with us she touched so many lives and was truly one of a kind.

Tanya loved spending time with her family, Family was everything to her whether blood or spiritual. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally they meant the world to her. Even if you weren't family, you were family and was treated as such no matter your circumstance. Most times she would give you whatever she had if it could fix your problems even if that meant leaving herself with nothing. She was truly a loving and caring person there was no other way. She embraced being a superwoman to so many. Her true passion was cooking, most importantly the presentation of her dishes, she was her biggest critic. Her kitchen was her happy place, the meals provided within came with an extra side of comfort and a sprinkle of love. It wasn't just food to her, it was her way of communicating to the hearts of the many who indulged. She herself enjoyed food from many cultures such as Italian, Mediterranean, Thai, Korean, Japanese, Jamaican, African just to name a few. Gardening was another love of hers. She spent countless hours nurturing her plants and watching them bloom. In her spare time the Food Network, HGTV and other home design shows were her go to. Occasionally she would watch sports. She had a love for music. She enjoyed traveling as well as family road trips. To say the least she had a very artistic view on life stretching between cooking, gardening, decorating, not matter what she did, she did it with all her heart. Over the last 5 years of her life, she committed to becoming the best Jehovah's Witness she could be above all else, all the while becoming the best version of herself.

Atanya leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sons, Laquon and Telorian Williams; her loving daughters, Janae Crockett and Sara Schrock; her 5 grandchildren Telorian Jr, Taequon, Taveion Wiliams, Javaughn Whitehead, Kayden Francois; her loving siblings Pamela Oguagha, Raymond and Cynthia Yates; all of her nieces, nephews and cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
